- 1 cup homogenized milk

- 1 cup dark brown sugar

- ½ cup butter (for caramel sauce)
- 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
- ½ cup cream (for caramel sauce)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter an oven-safe casserole dish.
- In a bowl, mix chopped dates with baking soda. Heat the milk until scalding, then pour it over the dates and let it cool for about 15 minutes.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, beat eggs and mix with butter, dark brown sugar, and vanilla in a food processor until smooth. Add dry ingredients then the date mixture; pulse until combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until set.
- For the caramel sauce, melt butter in a saucepan; add brown sugar and salt until melted, then stir in cream and simmer until thickened.
- Once the pudding is baked, poke holes in it and pour some caramel sauce on top; let absorb for about 15 minutes.
