  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a tube or Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. In another bowl, sift flour with baking soda and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture alternately with sour cream, starting and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  5. Cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. For the frosting, melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and salt; cook for 2-3 minutes. Add milk and bring to a gentle boil; simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
