- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 1/4 cup milk

- 1/2 cup brown sugar (topping)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (topping)
- 1 1/2 cups very hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup + 3 tablespoons of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon cloves.
- In another bowl, mix together 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil, and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla until smooth. Add to dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased 8-inch casserole dish.
- For the topping, mix together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup chopped pecans. Spread evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour 1 1/2 cups of very hot water over the entire dish without stirring.
- Bake for about 40 minutes or until set in the middle.
