Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (equivalent to 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 cup pistachio butter
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 packet of active dry yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of warm milk, 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, and 1 large egg. Pour into the flour mixture.
  3. Knead until a soft dough forms (about 5 minutes). Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches), spread with 1 cup of pistachio butter, and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
  5. Roll into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly before serving; drizzle with icing or sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.
